dControllerAltStoreFwdEnabled

1.3.6.1.4.1.171.14.27.1.1.1

TruthValue1 = true2 = falseRepresents a boolean value. · Integer32

This object indicates whether ASF (Alternative Store and Forward) is enabled. The ASF is used to reduce latency for large packets. When ASF is enabled, packets could be forwarded before it has been entirely received. To avoid underruns, ASF takes place only when all below conditions are fulfilled: 1) Ingress port speed is faster or equal to that of egress port; 2) Packet size is larger than predefined value. The predefined value is chip dependent. Set to 'true' to enable ASF feature. It allows packets to be sent in a cut-through manner. Setting the object to 'false' will disable ASF.

dHeadOfLinePrevention

1.3.6.1.4.1.171.14.27.1.2

TruthValue1 = true2 = falseRepresents a boolean value. · Integer32

Head-of-line blocking (HOL blocking) is a performance-limiting phenomenon that occurs when a line of packets are held up by the first packet.The switches with input buffering can suffer HOL blocking because only the oldest packet is available for forwarding (FIFO). The more recent arrivals cannot be forwarded if the oldest packet cannot be forwarded because its destination output is busy (Congestion). The phenomenon can have severe performance-degrading effects. With HoL Prevention, the new arrivals could potentially be forwarded around the stuck oldest packet to their respective destinations..
